Progress Report

My second book is really taking shape. I guess it was a week or so ago that I changed the whole direction of this book. I had the title already in place and I thought I was close to the finish line. God had a different plan and he shook everything up. I changed my title and added four additional chapters. I am so excited about the new concept of this book and I am confident that it will be a source of inspiration to all who read it. With this new vision in place, I spent most of the day on Thursday writing. I got so much accomplished and I even developed a concept for the cover. This book is all about building our connection to God and how we can reach that higher level of intimacy with him. I hesitate to give much more information about the book as of now because God may decide to build on what he has given me so far. I am just yielding myself to where God wants to take me. Stay tuned for more updates....

Success: God's Way

When you ask someone what they want to accomplish in life, one of the first things they will say is that they want to be successful. Well, success is difficult to attain if you look at the world's view. The world bases success on the material things you possess. The kind of car you drive and the type of house you live in are determining factors in your impending success. I argue that the world's view of success is skewed. There will always be someone with a nicer car or a bigger house than you have. We will always be in competition with others if we look at success in that way.

If we go to God and ask him for his direction, he will put us in a class all our own. Because we were each uniquely designed, there is something we have to offer this world that no one else can. When we ask God to show us our purpose, we have just opened the door to the overflow of success in our lives. If you have been called to teach, you have an opportunity to change the life of every person that enters your classroom. Every time I begin to share my thoughts on this blog, I have an opportunity to encourage someone. Whatever gift God has placed inside of you is special. That's what you should measure your success by.

If you are striving to be the man or woman that God designed you to be, you are already successful. Stop looking at the world for validation of how successful you are. When you choose to obey God, the abundance will come. If you have yet to discover your purpose, pray for his guidance. He is just waiting to open his good treasure to you. When he does, you will be amazed at what he has planned for your life. He wants to give you his version of a never ending success story.

In your meditation time, read Deuteronomy 28:1-14. God wants to bless us beyond measure. The only prerequisite is obedience to his will. Be encouraged.

Maximize Your Potential

Have you ever felt like your best wasn't good enough? I know I've been there so many times. And even now, those little thoughts try to creep in. I sometimes wonder if I'll be able to add value to people's lives through my writing. I don't want to write just to make money. I want to make a difference. What I've come to realize is that the enemy wants to stop all of us from reaching our full potential. He wants to flood our minds with self-doubt. When that happens, we have to remember that God designed us in his image. We are not destined to fail. We come from royalty and we should always keep that in the forefront of our minds.

Are you letting the enemy stop you fom maximizing your potential? If you are, today is the day to stand up, dust yourself off and get back in the fight. We all have a purpose. Go out there and fulfill your destiny. That's exactly what I plan to do.

Awhile back, I heard a song by Donald Lawrence called There is a king in you. I hope you will get inspired by this song in the same way I did.

The journey begins

I've heard so much about the benefits of blogging that I decided to join in the fun. My first book is out and available for purchase. Now I am hard at work on my second book. I actually started writing as a way to cope during a particularly trying time in my life. Little did I know, God was arranging everything together so that I would find my purpose in life. I never dreamed of being a writer. It wasn't even on my list of things to do. God had a plan and he turned all of my tragedy into triumph with the release of my first book, "The Job Experience." Now that I am working on my second book, I can see the vision that God has for me clearly. My writing process is different now. Before it was very therapeutic because I was coming from a place of pain. With this new process I am studying and researching more. I am working hard to perfect my craft. Most importantly, I want to make sure I am humbling myself so that I can hear God's voice. I'm all about purpose and vision in life. I would love to hear your own stories of how God showed you your purpose.
